Standard subscriptions

Standard subscriptions run for a minimum of five months. They deliver lessons at a substantially lower per-session cost than short-term work with an elite tutor, and they give me the contextual awareness to adjust delivery to your student over time.

Students operate from a GeorgeTutor portal which offers some scheduling flexibility and allows occasional adjustment to the direction, intensity, and focus of the teaching. Parent consultations are free, once per month. Sessions are pre-scheduled at one to four regular weekly times with dependable tutor access; these appointments are use-or-lose. Subscriptions continue until a natural break — typically the end of a school exam — with a full one-month notice required for an elegant close.

Short-term subscriptions

Short-term subscriptions can be a way to get the best of two worlds. These are subscriptions that last only one to four months, for families who want the personal style of a subscription and its reliable weekly cadence, but who need a nearer horizon.

In practice short-term subscriptions usually belong to the second half of the academic year, and they have certainly proved their worth there. A student who arrives in January with a spring of AP or IB examinations ahead, SAT candidates sitting in March or May, or learners with semester grades to recover do not necessarily need a commitment that reaches into the summer — they need the same tutor at the same hour every week between now and the examination. A short-term subscription gives exactly that: the continuity, the pre-scheduled weekly slot and the settled working relationship of the flagship arrangement, sized to the term that is actually in front of you.

Families who begin this way frequently continue afterwards, and the short-term subscription counts as the trial run that made the decision to move to the long-term arrangement easy.

With short-term subscriptions, there is no notice requirement, but the full term must be paid on early discontinuance.

How packages work

Packages can run between 3 and 40 sessions, spread over a limiting duration of 70 days. Families who want a longer duration may apply for a second package, subject to availability. For each package, we agree the target and the material we will cover up front, and then you are in control of the session cadence. Per-session costs sit between those of long-term subscription rates and Topic Ticket rates — reflecting a real commitment without the multi-year horizon.

Sessions are booked through the GeorgeTutor portal, where you may schedule a sequence ahead or just book session-by-session; unused sessions are valid within the 70-day life of the package. A short mid-package review is included at no cost so we can course-correct if needed.

When a package fits

Packages are the right choice when there is a specific outcome and a specific horizon — a test, a term, an admissions deadline. If the work is likely to continue indefinitely, a subscription usually delivers better value; if you need just one or two sessions on a specific question, a Topic Ticket is faster to arrange.

What the ticket carries

At the heart of every Topic Ticket is a premium session. That is the central hour we spend together, and it is “premium” because the work does not begin or end there: I prepare material on your topic before we meet, and I follow up afterwards — for example, reading and marking something you send me, writing up what we agreed, pointing you at the right next step. The work either side is held to no more than an hour of my time in total, so you know exactly what you are buying.

Additionally, two optional bookends sit around the premium session. An introductory session can go in front at a lower cost, for when the ground needs mapping before the premium hour begins — useful if the question is still taking shape, or if I should meet the student first. One further session can follow afterwards, as a review of what came out of it or a first step into the work itself. Once those elements are used, the Topic Ticket has done its job and it closes.

You book each session yourself, at any time shown in the portal as Available, and pay for it at the point of booking. Alternatively, bookings can be done for you at your direction. A session once booked may be postponed and rebooked once.

Consultations

Over and above the coaching sessions, a Topic Ticket includes consultations. Consultations are not teaching; they provide fifteen to thirty minutes on logistics and approach: when to meet, where the sessions should sit, what would get the most out of the hour. Your first consultation is free and arrives in the portal ready to book. If you would like more of my time in that form, later consultations are charged at the published escalating rate.

The life of a ticket

A Topic Ticket stays open for fifty days from the day you take it out, or until its sessions have been used — whichever comes first. That is deliberate: a ticket is for a question you have now, not a credit to sit on indefinitely. If you find yourself a day or two short, write to me and I can usually extend it a little.

A Topic Ticket is the right choice for a discrete question, a second opinion, or a first meeting to see whether working together makes sense at all. Many families arrive here first and move to a package or a subscription once the shape of the work becomes clear. If a new question comes up later, you simply take out another ticket.
